Bobbin House Studio. Wow!
"I'd been looking for a 'golden age' sewing machine for decades, and spent three days as a guest at Bobbin House studying with the Bobbin Doctor. Steve's mind-boggling knowledge of sewing machines and his enthusiasm for them helped me select my dream machine, an Elna Super. And the mentoring sessions were only part of the experience. A stay at Bobbin House is an immersion in the rich arts culture of Minneapolis-- Steve and Tom are friendly encyclopedias of things to do, and the House itself a design triumph (check out the giant bobbins on the front lawn).

"I have traveled around the world, but Bobbin House Studio is one of my favorite places to stay. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable, affordable, and located with easy access to the urban centers of Minneapolis and St Paul. I particularly enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room off the bedroom, making meals in the well-equipped kitchen, eating dinner on the porch, and going the Cupcake Cafe right around the corner for morning coffee. One has the feeling of inhabiting a whole house, even on the occasions when owners Steve and Tom are busy with projects of their fiber arts business on the main floor. "You will love your stay at Bobbin House a most creatively designed and decorated suite within walking distance of the Textile Center and several interesting eating and coffee spots. I highly recommend taking a class with Steve, a patient and creative teacher in all manner of subjects. "The web site is accurate. The Bobbin House is cute, fully functional and a great location for exploring mpls/stp sites. The beds are so Good! Sleep Number (new to us) with a memory foam top! Ahh! The space is clean-clean and well furnished. Steve and Tom are easy, good hosts willingly providing assistance. But you won't need much, because of their thoughtful preparation. We loved our 6 days at Bobbin House. It felt like we were 10 to 15 minutes from everything by foot, bus or car. We'll be back. It's our best ever B&B-like experience. Ahh, the beds!" "My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending several days in the BobbinHouse and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is a beautiful space with delightful surprises around every corner. Tom and Steve have also thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It is the attention to detail that is most evident; every space, every object is part of a whole which is inviting and intriguing. The BobbinHouse is beautifully situated in a wonderfully grand neighborhood, yet is close to easy transportation options, soon including light rail. The kitchen was great and allowed us to roust ourselves in the morning, make a light breakfast and start the day at any hour of our choosing. Similarly in the evening, we could prepare a snack regardless of how late it was.
